The Man Behind Celtic Irish Music

Mike Fitzgeerald had a great love for music and song since his school days in the late 50's. In 1996 he attended technical school at Sean Moylans house Kiskeam, North Cork.

Every day during his lunch breaks he and his friends would go to the shop "Con Tims" to buy sweets etc. One day before the Christmas holidays he saw a guitar in  the shop window priced at £4.10s. He put a deposit of a half a crown on it and said he might be able to afford it after the Christmas holidays if he achieved his targets.

His targets were first prize of 30 shillings in each of the following:
1 selling the most raffle tickets for school funds, 2 best attendance for the past year, 3 best all round entertainer at the Christmas party.

All these targets were achieved and so he went direct to "Con Tims" shop and bought the guitar. He learned to play it over the next few years.
When he left school he worked in the buildings, repairing cycles and later went working in hotels around Killarney.

He met up with a lot of different musicians and played in various bands, namely The Breeze, The Country Rangers, The Glen Side Folk and The New Mexicans. He then  joined the band who later became Southern Pride.

The band was fortunate enough to play all over Munster in the well known County Dance venues which are now closed.

Mike Fitzgerald contributed to the success of many local musicians who began at the same time.

In 1982 Mike Fitzgerald got  involved with video production and became very successful on the wedding scene etc.

In 1988 he began producing music video's along with running his band Southern Pride. In 1993 he began working in association with A-ONE MUSIC SCOTLAND producing many fine scenic music video's that are sold worldwide.

Mike Fitzgerald celebrated 25 years in the music business in 1997 with the release of a video and  cassette called Going Places.

Down through the years life was sometimes difficult for him but his love of music always saw him through. This album Instrumentally Yours was created out of his love for the guitar and all string instruments. It is a must for all music lovers collection.
